Setting up your Trezor device is easy, and we’re here to guide you step-by-step. Just follow these instructions to start securing your assets with Trezor.io/Start:
Step 1: Visit Trezor.io/Start®
To start the setup process, plug your Trezor device into your computer and open your web browser. Head to Trezor.io/start to get started with the official setup instructions.
Step 2: Download Trezor Suite
Trezor Suite is the official application for managing your wallet, assets, and transactions. It’s available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, as well as in a browser-based version.
On the Trezor.io/start page, download Trezor Suite to your computer.
Once downloaded, open Trezor Suite and connect your Trezor device.
Step 3: Install Firmware
If you’re setting up your Trezor for the first time, it may need a firmware update to ensure it’s running the latest security features.
Follow the prompts in Trezor Suite to install or update your firmware. This step only takes a few moments and ensures your device is secure.
After updating, your device may restart—this is normal.
Step 4: Create a New Wallet or Recover an Existing One
Once the firmware is updated, you’ll have two options:
Create a New Wallet: If this is your first time using Trezor, select this option. You’ll be given a unique recovery seed—a 12, 18, or 24-word phrase used to recover your wallet if your device is lost or damaged.
Important: Write down your recovery seed and store it safely. Don’t share it online or with anyone else, as it’s the only way to access your wallet if your device is lost.
Recover Wallet: If you already have a Trezor wallet, use this option to enter your existing recovery seed.
Step 5: Set Up Security - PIN and Passphrase
Once your wallet is created, take these steps to maximize your security:
Create a PIN: Choose a strong PIN to protect your device. You’ll need this PIN each time you connect your Trezor.
Enable Passphrase (Optional): For advanced security, you can set up a passphrase, which acts as an additional password for accessing your wallet.
Now that your Trezor is set up, you can start managing your cryptocurrencies with ease! Here’s how:
Add Your Accounts: In Trezor Suite, go to “Accounts” to add your preferred cryptocurrencies. Trezor supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and many other assets.
Send and Receive Crypto: You can easily transfer assets using Trezor Suite. When making a transaction, Trezor will prompt you to verify the transaction details on your device screen, adding an extra layer of security.
Track Your Portfolio: Trezor Suite provides a clear overview of your portfolio and asset balances, allowing you to stay updated on your holdings.
To maintain the security of your assets, always follow these best practices:
Regular Firmware Updates: Check for firmware updates in Trezor Suite to keep your device secure with the latest security improvements.
Avoid Phishing Scams: Only use Trezor’s official site and applications, and be cautious of emails or messages asking for your recovery seed or personal details.
Secure Your Recovery Seed: Consider storing your recovery seed in multiple secure locations.
With your Trezor wallet set up through Trezor.io/Start, you can confidently explore the world of cryptocurrency while keeping your assets safe. Whether you’re storing Bitcoin, Ethereum, or other altcoins, Trezor provides a user-friendly and secure experience.
Welcome to the Trezor family—enjoy the freedom and security of managing your crypto assets with ease!
